Brig Gen Steven Butow, Commander, California Air National Guard, announced in a letter to all CANG Airmen the selection of Command Chief Lynn Williams to fill the vacant State Command Chief position.ย The assumption of authority ceremony will take place at Joint Forces Headquarters during July drill.
Chief Williams enlisted in the Air Force in 1989 as an F-16 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice. His background includes various positions including F-16 Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief, Quality Assurance Inspector, Maintenance Squadron First Sergeant, Wing First Sergeant, Wing Human Resource Advisor, Maintenance Group Superintendent, and Senior Enlisted Leader, California Military Departmentโs Joint Staff.ย Chief Williams has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, SOUTHERN WATCH, CORONET NIGHTHAWK, Sentry Eagle, Joint Task Force Vigilant, Southwest Boarder Mission, and Californiaโs COVID-19 Joint Task Force. Currently, Chief Williams serves as the Command Chief at the 144th Fighter Wing.ย His breadth of leadership and joint experience will undoubtedly benefit the Airmen of the California Air National Guard.
