It is with deep respect and sadness that we share the passing of Command Sergeant Major William “Bill” Clark, Jr., a lifelong supporter of CAL EANGUS and a dedicated leader in the veteran community. CSM Clark passed away peacefully at his home in Seaside, California, on September 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with frontotemporal dementia. He was 70 years old.

Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, on September 9, 1955, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1974 and went on to serve over 43 years with distinction, retiring in September 2017 as a Command Sergeant Major—one of the highest honors an enlisted soldier can earn.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Bill was known for his unwavering commitment to giving back. He was an avid cyclist, participating in Ride to Recovery, a program supporting veterans’ physical and mental rehabilitation. He also remained engaged with the veteran community long after retirement, working to uplift others and model lifelong service.

For CAL EANGUS, Bill was more than a member—he was a champion. As a Lifetime Member, he supported our mission and served as an example of principled advocacy and leadership. His loyalty and dedication helped strengthen our community and inspire countless others to give back to the Guard and veteran family.

Bill is survived by his children, Angela Rose Clark and William Eric Clark III, and by his former wife, Laurie Clark, who stood by him with compassion throughout his illness. He also leaves behind siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family across South Carolina, California, and New York.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, in Seaside, CA.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life—a life marked by integrity, service, and love. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
