General Expectations for All CAL EANGUS Board Members
As representatives of the enlisted Soldiers and Airmen of California, all CAL EANGUS Board Members are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to service. Board Members serve not only as leaders within the association but also as ambassadors of the enlisted voice across the state and nation.
All Board Members Are Expected To:

Actively Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to all scheduled monthly virtual Executive Council meetings and any special sessions as called by the President.

Engage in State and National Events: Be willing to travel to represent CAL EANGUS at official events, conferences, and legislative visits.

Travel Compensation: Travel on behalf of CAL EANGUS to approved official events (such as the State Conference, EANGUS National Conference, or designated legislative engagements) is eligible for reimbursement or direct travel funding, in accordance with association travel policies and budget allocations.

Support EANGUS National Engagement: Be highly encouraged to attend the EANGUS National Conference each year to represent California, participate in national discussions, and collaborate with other state associations.

Advocate for the Association: Present information about CAL EANGUS at military units, drills, conferences, and community events, encouraging membership, engagement, and legislative awareness.

Maintain Communication: Regularly communicate with members, regional directors, and committees to ensure alignment with the association’s mission and priorities.

Lead by Example: Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and respect in all interactions while representing the association.

Support Fundraising and Membership Efforts: Participate in campaigns that promote membership growth, scholarships, and charitable initiatives.

Stay Informed: Remain current on legislative priorities, state and national Guard issues, and association activities to effectively represent the membership.

Commit to Teamwork: Collaborate with other board members and volunteers to ensure the success of CAL EANGUS programs and initiatives.
Vice President
Description:
The Vice President assists the President in the execution of duties and acts on behalf of the President when absent.
Duties & Expectations:

Support the President in managing association operations, programs, and initiatives.

Lead special projects or task forces as assigned by the President.

Coordinate with regional directors to ensure local representation and engagement.

Develop and maintain partnerships with other state and regional associations.

Promote membership growth and engagement across the state.
-
Prepare to assume the role of President if required.
Secretary
Description:
The Secretary serves as the administrative officer responsible for official documentation, records management, and correspondence.
Duties & Expectations:

Record, maintain, and distribute minutes of all Executive Council and membership meetings.

Maintain accurate records of all association business, including bylaws and policies.
-
Ensure timely dissemination of official communications and announcements.
-
Coordinate with the Membership Director to ensure accurate rosters and contact lists.

Provide administrative support for official reports and filings.
Treasurer
Description:
The Treasurer oversees all financial operations of the association to ensure transparency, accountability, and fiscal sustainability.
Duties & Expectations:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
-
Develop and present the annual budget for Executive Council approval.

Manage all receipts, disbursements, and financial reporting.
-
Ensure compliance with all state and federal nonprofit reporting requirements.

Provide quarterly financial statements to the Executive Council and annual reports to the membership.

Work with the Audit Committee for an annual review of financial practices.
- Experience with Quickbooks preferred.
At-Large (Annual) Board Member
Description:
The At-Large (Annual) Board Member serves as an elected voting member of the CAL EANGUS Executive Council, representing the interests of the association’s annual members. This position plays a critical role in providing oversight, maintaining continuity, and ensuring accountability within the organization.
Duties & Expectations:

Serve as a voting member of the Executive Council and attend all meetings, conferences, and special sessions.

Represent the interests and perspectives of Annual Members, providing input on policies, programs, and initiatives.

Serve on the Committee on Audits, conducting annual financial and property reviews and submitting written reports to the Executive Council.

Assist in preserving and maintaining the properties, real and personal, of CAL EANGUS.

Participate actively in association activities, events, and outreach efforts to promote transparency and member engagement.

Uphold the association’s constitution, bylaws, and values, acting as a responsible steward of member trust and resources.

Commit to a two-year term, as established in the bylaws, and maintain membership in good standing throughout the duration of service.
At-Large (Life) Board Member
Description:
The At-Large (Life) Board Member serves as an elected voting member of the CAL EANGUS Executive Council representing the association’s life members. This position provides continuity, historical perspective, and long-term strategic insight in support of CAL EANGUS’s mission and governance.
Duties & Expectations:

Participate as a voting member of the Executive Council, providing guidance and expertise developed through long-term association with CAL EANGUS.

Serve on the Committee on Audits alongside the At-Large (Annual) Board Member, ensuring financial accountability and organizational integrity.

Safeguard and maintain the association’s tangible and intangible assets, including historical records, traditions, and member trust.

Offer mentorship and institutional knowledge to newer members and leaders within CAL EANGUS.

Advocate for policies and initiatives that preserve the legacy and future of the association.

Attend meetings and conferences to remain informed on current association business and legislative initiatives.

Serve a two-year term, consistent with organizational bylaws, while maintaining Life Member status in good standing.
