CAL-EANGUS Opens Nominations for 2026 Leadership Elections
CAL-EANGUS is preparing for its next chapter of leadership, and we are looking for members who are ready to step forward, get involved, and help shape the future of our Association.
This year, CAL-EANGUS will hold elections for four positions on the Executive Council:
President — Three-Year Term
Vice President — Three-Year Term
Member-at-Large (Annual) — Two-Year Term
Member-at-Large (Life) — Two-Year Term
Our Association is strongest when our leadership reflects the Soldiers and Airmen we serve. Whether you have decades of experience with CAL-EANGUS or have only recently become involved, serving on the Executive Council provides an opportunity to bring new ideas to the table, advocate for our members, and directly influence the future of the Association.
President
The President serves as the senior elected leader of CAL-EANGUS and Chair of the Executive Council.
Under the CAL-EANGUS Bylaws, the President presides over General and Special Conferences, chairs the Executive Council, serves as an ex-officio member of committees, directs the affairs of the Association in accordance with policies adopted by the membership, convenes the Executive Council, appoints standing committees and their leadership, prepares the proposed annual budget, and provides an annual report to the membership.
Beyond those formal responsibilities, the President serves as one of the primary voices of CAL-EANGUS—building relationships, engaging our membership, supporting our legislative and organizational priorities, and representing the interests of California’s enlisted National Guard community.
We are looking for a leader who is willing to dedicate the time and energy necessary to move CAL-EANGUS forward while building a strong team around them.
Vice President
The Vice President serves as a voting member of the Executive Council and works closely with the President to advance the mission and priorities of CAL-EANGUS.
The Vice President performs duties assigned by the President consistent with the Bylaws, assumes the duties of the President during the President’s absence or incapacity, and succeeds to the office of President if that position becomes vacant during the term.
The position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in taking a greater leadership role within CAL-EANGUS. Candidates should be prepared to actively participate in Executive Council meetings, Association events, membership outreach, advocacy efforts, and other initiatives while developing the experience necessary to lead the organization when called upon.
Member-at-Large — Annual
The Annual Member-at-Large is an elected voting member of the Executive Council who helps bring the perspective of CAL-EANGUS Annual Members directly into the governance of the Association.
Members-at-Large also serve on the Committee on Audits and are charged under the Bylaws with helping preserve and maintain the property of the Association.
The role provides an excellent entry point for members interested in becoming more involved in CAL-EANGUS leadership without immediately taking on one of the Association’s executive officer positions.
We especially encourage our Junior Enlisted Annual Members to consider running.
The future of CAL-EANGUS depends on developing the next generation of association leaders. Our Junior Enlisted Soldiers and Airmen bring experiences, perspectives, and ideas that need to be represented at the table. If you have ever thought, “CAL-EANGUS should…” this is an opportunity to help turn those ideas into action.
Member-at-Large — Life
The Life Member-at-Large is also an elected voting member of the Executive Council and provides a voice for CAL-EANGUS Life Members.
In addition to participating in Executive Council decisions, Members-at-Large serve on the Committee on Audits and assist with safeguarding Association property and resources.
Life Members bring an important element of continuity to CAL-EANGUS. Their experience and institutional knowledge can help mentor newer leaders while ensuring the Association continues building upon the work of those who came before us.
Who Can Serve?
Under the CAL-EANGUS Bylaws, officers must be members in good standing and cannot hold Honorary or Associate membership.
Most importantly, we are looking for members who are willing to show up, participate, bring ideas forward, and work as part of a team.
You do not need to have previously served on the CAL-EANGUS Executive Council to make a difference. You do not need to know everything about the Association on your first day. You simply need a willingness to serve, learn, contribute, and advocate for California’s enlisted community.

Mark your calendars!
The 2026 CAL-EANGUS State Conference is coming to Long Beach on October 10–11.
Our annual State Conference is more than an Association business meeting. It is an opportunity to bring together Soldiers, Airmen, retirees, veterans, and CAL-EANGUS leaders from across California to discuss the issues affecting our enlisted community and determine where our Association goes next.
Members will hear updates on CAL-EANGUS programs and initiatives, discuss legislative and membership priorities, conduct Association business, connect with fellow members, and help set our priorities for the coming year.

This Is Your Association
CAL-EANGUS exists to put into action the expressed will of its members and to promote and advance the status, welfare, and professionalism of the California National Guard.
