The California Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (CAL EANGUS) announces that President Josh J. Baker, has submitted his resignation, effective October 31, 2025, as he continues to dedicate his full attention to his ongoing role as President of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS).

Josh J. Baker has led CAL EANGUS with unwavering commitment and vision since 2019, helping expand the association’s membership, strengthen partnerships with other veteran and military organizations, and advance key legislative initiatives. During his tenure, CAL EANGUS played a leading role in sponsoring the bill that provided state tax relief to military retiree’s pensions as well as surviving spouses, a bill that allowed a partnership with the California Military Department Support Fund and non-profit organizations such as CAL EANGUS and a bill that allowed State workers to take military leave to attend drill weekend.

“Serving as President of CAL EANGUS has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” Baker shared. “This organization has grown stronger, more visible, and more effective in advocating for California’s Soldiers, Airmen, and Veterans. I will continue to support CAL EANGUS and our shared mission as a California Guardsman and Veteran.”

Per the bylaws, MSG AJ Johnson, current Vice President, will assume the role of President for the remainder of the term. Nominations are now open to fill the Vice President position, which carries a one-year remaining term. Voting will take place during the CAL EANGUS State Conference in San Diego on November 8, 2025.
