The California Enlisted Association exists for one reason: to be the voice of California’s National Guard service members, retirees, veterans, and their families. Every legislative victory, every benefit protected, and every issue advanced on behalf of our military community is made possible by the strength of our membership.
As CAL-EANGUS joins the national EANGUS “Race to Daytona” membership campaign, we are asking every member to help us grow our voice by recruiting at least one new member.
Membership matters because advocacy matters.
Over the past several years, CAL-EANGUS has delivered meaningful results for California’s military community. We successfully championed legislation to exempt military retirement pay from California state income taxes (up to $20K but we are fighting for more), providing long-overdue tax relief to military retirees. We also supported legislation allowing California state employees to use annual leave to attend military drill, creating greater flexibility and support for National Guard members balancing civilian careers and military service.
While we celebrate these victories, our work is far from complete.
Today, EANGUS and CAL-EANGUS continue to advocate for legislation that would eliminate state taxes on military drill pay, ensuring our National Guard members keep more of the compensation they earn while serving their state and nation. We are also supporting efforts to establish official recognition of the National Guard Relief Foundation, providing Guardsmen and their families with access to a dedicated military relief organization comparable to those available to our active-duty counterparts.
These initiatives require a strong membership base and a unified voice.
